To maintain single spaces between words and eliminate erratic text spacing, utilize Excel’s built-in TRIM feature.
The typeface is =TRIM.
To apply the function to a single cell, type:
=TRIM(cell)
If you want to use the function on a range of cells, write:
=TRIM(start cell:end cell)
It should be noted that extraneous space inside the dataset that appears before, after, or in between text or numbers within a cell is referred to as irregular spacing.
To clean up erratic gaps in the dataset inside the range A2:C21, use Trim.
Note: Use a colon (:) to divide the range values in order to specify the range:
Step 1) Start the TRIM function
Step 2) Select a range of cells to be used in the TRIM function
4. Select a range (A2:C21)
5. Hit enter
Give it a go!
Take a look at the values in the following example and give it a try!
The value range will be cleaned up.
The function returns a dataset with normal spacing removed:
Step 3): Apply the TRIM function with text spacing:
To format the text, use the =TRIM function by following the instructions in the preceding example:
The text looks much better now!
