Excel STDEV.S Function

An Excel prepared function called STDEV.S determines the Standard Deviation (Std) for a given sample.

The type is =STDEV.S.

Note: Cells containing logic and text are ignored by this function.

Note: The standard deviation (σ) expresses the distance between a “typical” observation and the data average (μ). Visit our Statistics – Standard Deviation Tutorial to learn more about standard deviation.

Advice: If you have the population’s data, you can utilize an additional function named STDEV.P.
