MODE
Excel MODE Function
A pre-made Excel function called MODE is used to determine the number that is encountered the most frequently.
There is only ever one number returned by this function.
The typing is =MODE.SNGL.
In a range or array, it yields the number that appears the most.
Note: The mode, a kind of average number, indicates the location of the majority of the data. See our Statistics Mode Tutorial for additional information on modes.
Let’s examine an example in which we assist Pokemon trainers in determining the average number of Pokeballs.
How to use the =MODE function, step by step:
- Select a cell (B10)
- Type =MODE
- Double click the MODE.SNGL command
- Select a range (B2:E7)
- Hit enter
It gives back the number 1, which appears seven times. Since they are both seen three times, the numbers 3 and 4 are the closest to it.
