MIN
Excel MIN Function
Excel has a built-in function called MIN that allows you to determine the lowest integer inside a range.
The typeface is =MIN.
Text-filled cells are ignored by the function. Only numeric cells will be affected.
Note: The reverse of MIN, MAX is another function that determines the maximum number inside a range.
How to use the =MIN function:
- Select a cell (G5)
- Type =MIN
- Double click the MIN command
- Select a range (D2:D21)
- Hit enter
Let’s have a look at an example!
Find the Pokemon which has the lowest total stats in the range D2:D21:
Take a look at that! The lowest value, 200, has been successfully found by the function. In the D2–D21 range, Magikarp has the lowest total stats of any Pokemon.
To show what happens, let’s add text to a cell in the range D2:21 To D21, type Kadabra.
Excellent! The text entered within the range is ignored by the function. Since text was used to replace the previous lowest value, 253 is returned as the new lowest value. In the D2–D21 range, Rattata currently has the lowest Total stats of any Pokemon.
