Excel Charts
Data is represented visually via charts, which help to make things easier to grasp.
Frequently utilized charts include:
- Pie chart
- Column chart
- Line chart
For various kinds of data, different charts are utilized.
Note: Graphs and visualizations are other names for charts.
The number of Pokemon in each generation is shown in the column chart above.
Note: Before the data is plotted into a chart, it may occasionally need to be processed.
Excel makes it simple to generate charts in a few easy steps.
Creating a Chart in Excel
Creating a chart, step by step:
- Select the range A1:A8
2. Select Line () from the drop-down menu by clicking on the Insert menu, followed by the Line menu ().
Note: To access this menu, expand the ribbon.
You should now get this chart:
Fantastic! This is the first chart that you have made.
Note: The cells 9 and 10 are not shown in the graph because they were not chosen for the range.
Creating Another Chart in Excel
Let’s use a column chart to compare the stats of Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur among the Pokemon.
- Select the range A1:G4
2. Select Clustered Column () from the drop-down menu after selecting the Insert menu and then the Column menu().
Note: To access this menu, expand the ribbon.
You should now get this chart:
The chart provides a graphical summary of the Pokemon’s stats.
Charmander is the fastest; he is shown by the orange bars. The gray bars stand for Squirtle, who has the strongest defense.
Note: “Chart Title” is the default title for the chart. It is modifiable. Customizing charts is something you will discover in a later chapter.
